Aim of Study	This research is designed to increase our understanding of these complex psychiatric disorders and to help inform future therapies for them.
Inclusion Criteria	Volunteers Required. Identical or Non-Identical. We are looking for same-sex twin pairs where one or both twins have Manic-Depression (Bipolar Disorder), or Schizophrenia. Twins must be native English speakers. Our research involves some psychological tasks (e.g. defining words and solving different kinds of problems).
Area	Assignments take place in London and recuit nationally . All travel expenses are paid within the UK and a contribution can be made if you are coming from overseas.
Duration	How much of my time will the study take? Your participation will be completed after 2 interviews (these can be conducted over the phone, or sometimes in person), 1 to 2 visits at the Institute of Psychiatry in south east London, Denmark Hill(each day will take 3-5 hours including a lunch break), and the completion of some questionnaires at your leisure. I am working full time. Can I still participate? Yes. The interviews and questionnaires can be carried out in your free time, and one or both of your visits can take place on a Saturday or Sunday.

Type of Study	HELP INFERTILE COUPLES - GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO HAVE A FAMILY SPERM DONORS NEEDED NON SYSTEMIC As the UK’s leading fertility specialists, we help thousands of couples become parents every year in CARE clinics across the country and we know how important sperm donors are. There is currently a national shortage of donor sperm available for use in fertility treatment.
Aim of Study	WOULD YOU LIKE TO DONATE SPERM TO HELP INFERTILE COUPLES You may already be a father yourself and know the joy children bring to your life. Could you consider donating sperm and give another couple the chance to have a precious child of their own? DID YOU KNOW 1 in 6 couples need help getting pregnant many treatments involve donor sperm
Inclusion Criteria	You need to be fit and healthy, under 45 years of age and with no history of genetic disorders.
Exclusion Criteria	There are certain high-risk groups from which we cannot recruit donors. If you belong to or have ever belonged to any of these groups we cannot accept you as a sperm donor. Homosexual and bisexual men. Drug users Haemophiliacs (treated with blood products). Residents from high-risk areas such as Central Africa. Men who, are or ever have been, sexually involved with members (male or female) of the above groups.

Duration	Samples need to be produced at CARE by appointment only and we do our utmost to offer you mutually convenient appointment times. Appointments will be made with the laboratory staff after each donation. Donations need to be made regularly (within a 2 month period) and you should anticipate attending the clinic at least once or possibly twice a week until sufficient sperm has been collected and stored, usually around 8 donations, although this varies from donor to donor.
Reimbursement	Approx 20 pounds per donation

We have highly skilled doctors, scientists, nurses and support staff. Our laboratories and theatres are equipped to the highest standards. But for some of our patients we need extra help - we need donor eggs. Could you help? “Ive got three children and I don’t want any more. Aim of Study	WHY DO WE NEED DONOR EGGS Some women are unable to produce their own eggs. This might be because they have gone through the menopause early – as young as 20. Some of our patients have had chemotherapy or radiotherapy for cancer which has left them infertile. Other women have genetic conditions which they do not want to pass on to their children. Unless a donor comes forward we are unable to help them.
Inclusion Criteria	WHO CAN DONATE You should be under 36 years of age, in good health, preferably having had your own family and with no history of genetic disorders. Many women consider donating their eggs when they are sterilised for example.

Duration	WHAT IS INVOLVED Donating eggs requires commitment. There are daily injections – which we can train you to do – and you will need to come in to CARE probably 3 or 4 times for ultrasound scans and blood tests. At the appropriate time, eggs are collected by a simple procedure. After a few hours you can go home.
Reimbursement	CARE will compensate you up to £250 for loss of earnings as well as covering your expenses.
Other Info	IS IT ANONYMOUS YES. Donor and recipient never meet. Could any child ever trace me Since April 2005, any child born from donated eggs or sperm may, at age 18, request and be given identifying information about their donor. This change will not be retrospective and individuals who have donated eggs or sperm before April 2005 will not be identified.
