Type of Study	BIPOLAR TWIN STUDY AT THE INSTITUTE OF PSYCHIATRY, KING'S COLLEGE LONDON. NON INVASIVE RESEARCH
Aim of Study	This research is designed to increase our understanding of these complex psychiatric disorders and to help inform future therapies for them.
Inclusion Criteria	Volunteers Required. Identical or Non-Identical. We are looking for same-sex twin pairs where one or both twins have Manic-Depression (Bipolar Disorder), or Schizophrenia. Twins must be native English speakers. Our research involves some psychological tasks (e.g. defining words and solving different kinds of problems).
Area	Assignments take place in London and recuit nationally . All travel expenses are paid within the UK and a contribution can be made if you are coming from overseas.
Duration	How much of my time will the study take? Your participation will be completed after 2 interviews (these can be conducted over the phone, or sometimes in person), 1 to 2 visits at the Institute of Psychiatry in south east London, Denmark Hill(each day will take 3-5 hours including a lunch break), and the completion of some questionnaires at your leisure. I am working full time. Can I still participate? Yes. The interviews and questionnaires can be carried out in your free time, and one or both of your visits can take place on a Saturday or Sunday.
Reimbursement	All expenses paid plus we give a small 'Thank you' for your time.

Sterilisation/abstinence and all methods of contraception prohibited. Asthma medications allowed- Either reliever inhalers alone or with low dose inhaled steroids. Type of Study	The Expectancy of Pain in Chronic Pain The study will involve inducing very brief, non-harmful, painful sensations on your skin using a laser stimulator whilst recording your brain activity. The intensity of the painful pulses will be determined by you at the beginning of the study, meaning that you are in full control of the intensity.
Aim of Study	This study aims to investigate differences between people in expectations about pain, and how this impacts on chronic pain.

Type of Study	We have an ongoing recruitment campaign for Current smokers or ex smokers over the age of 40. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have a smokers cough or may have symptoms of breathlessness.
Aim of Study	We are screening smokers and looking for early changes in lung function which continuing to smoke may lead to increased risk of developing bronchitis / symptoms of breathlessness/ cough etc.
Inclusion Criteria	Must have smoked at least 20/day for 10 years or 10 A DAY FOR 20 YEARS
