Depression 2 Study in Blackpool, Liverpool and Manchester

Depression 2

Study Name: Major Depressive Disorder with or without sleep disturbance

Clinics: Blackpool, Liverpool and Manchester

Therapy Area: Mental health: Major Depressive Disorder with or without sleep disturbance

Gender and Age: Men and Women aged between 18-55

Description:

People that have been diagnosed with depression often report that they are ‘unable to switch off their thoughts at night’. Alongside the other symptoms that can be incredibly difficult to manage, this addition of disturbed sleep does not help.

MAC Clinical Research are running a research trial for a new medication that has the potential to act as both an anti-depressant and a sleep aid. The medication being trialled has been through 11 clinical studies previously.

In total, the study length can be up to 14 weeks long with 9 outpatient visits, 1 inpatient stay overnight, and 2 inpatient stays of 48 hours. The study will be running at our Blackpool, Manchester and Liverpool clinics with overnight stays at our Liverpool clinic. During these overnight stays, specially trained sleep technicians will monitor your sleep and collect data via a technique known as polysomnography. Reasonable travel expenses (or travel by taxi if required) and food will be provided during the study. You will be compensated £1850 for your time and commitment to the trial and your GP will be kept fully informed of your participation.

A full description of the study will be given at the chat visit before you decide to take part. This will include you receiving the full patient information sheet (PIS).

Reimbursement: Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed or travel by taxi, and food will be provided during study visits if needed. A payment of £1850 is allocated on completion.
